About our meetings
LAWMAC brings together local government, industry, government agencies and other waste and resource recovery professionals to share knowledge, discuss emerging issues and collaborate on the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.
LAWMAC meets three times each year, with two General Meetings (generally March and July and an Annual General Meeting (AGM)( generally held in November). Meetings are typically combined with workshops, site visits and other professional development and networking opportunities, providing members with opportunities to learn, connect and share experiences.
Representatives from the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ), Queensland Government agencies, Queensland Health, waste industry associations and other organisations involved in waste and resource recovery are encouraged to attend LAWMAC meetings and contribute information, expertise and industry perspectives.
Association membership is also available to representatives of industry, commerce, State Government agencies and other non-government organisations. These members are encouraged to actively participate in LAWMAC activities and discussions; however, voting rights are reserved for eligible local government members.
LAWMAC Meeting Attendance Policy
LAWMAC meetings and workshops are a key benefit of membership, providing delegates with access to presentations, industry updates, networking opportunities and collaborative discussions with waste and resource recovery professionals from across Queensland.
Non-members are welcome to attend one LAWMAC meeting on a complimentary basis, providing an opportunity to experience the benefits of participation and consider whether LAWMAC membership is right for their organisation.
Following this introductory attendance, a non-member meeting attendance fee of $200 per person applies to individuals or organisations that are not current financial members.
The attendance fee helps ensure fairness for financial members, whose membership fees support the administration, coordination and delivery of LAWMAC meetings, events and activities.
Certain attendees, including invited speakers, government agency representatives, strategic partners and collaborating organisations, may be exempt from the attendance fee at the discretion of the LAWMAC Executive.
